As part of the ambitious ‘Digital India’ programme, the government plans to make ‘Digital Village’ across the country, by linking all schemes with technology, Minister for Communication and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad Monday said.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Good Governance Week here, Prasad said, “The digital village would be powered by LED lighting, solar energy, skill development centres, e-services like e-education and e-health and others.
To make this programme a success, District Collectors and District Information Officers (DIOs) will have to play an important role and it will be the real test for District Collectors, the Minister added.
He said the government was aiming at empowering people of the country through digitisation. Millions of citizens have already joined in this initiative and he invited others to do so.
