Dengue claimed its first victim in Odisha. as situation in worst-affected Keonjhar district has assumed alarming proportions.
A patient died thursday while undergoing treatment at Barbil Community Health Centre (CHC) in Keonjhar district. The deceased identified as Sukramani Sandil was admitted to the health facility five days ago after complaints of high fever associated with body pain, fatigue and nausea. The woman hails from ward number 8 under Barbil Municipal area.
The dengue situation is alaraming in the state and worst-affected is Keonjhar district . The number of dengue patients in Barbil area of the district has reached up to 246 and blood samples of another 132 persons have been collected, informed Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Kabindra Prasad Sahoo.
On the other hand, the number of dengue patients admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack which stood at 14 yesterday, rose to 33 today, reports said.
One of patients admitted to the premier government-run referral hospital has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) after his condition turned critical. Rest of them are undergoing treatment at dengue ward of the hospital.
