Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday said the state government is doing everything to trace Suhail Aijaz, the missing Kashmiri student of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar. The statement of Patnaik came a day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti requested her Odisha counterpart to expedite investigation to trace the missing Kashmiri student. Mufti on Monday requested Patnaik to take swift action in tracing the medico. “Concerning reports coming in about a Kashmiri student, Suhail Aijaz of Kupwara being kidnapped in Odisha. I request the authorities to investigate & take swift action,” Mufti tweeted. Mufti expressed her concern after the Bhubaneswar police on Monday seized two hand-written posters that claimed Suhail had been kidnapped by the Maoists. Police have seized the posters, pasted on a wall of the Baramunda bus stand, about 3 km from AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.idnapped Suhail. Release our leader Sabyasachi Panda and take back Suhail. We will kill Suhail if our leader is not released within seven days,” reads a poster, written in Odia. The 23-year-old Kashmiri student went missing from AIIMS in Bhubaneswar since February 9. He was pursuing MBBS at the institute here from 2016.
According to sources on February 6, he called his parents asking for money. But they failed to establish contact with their son from February 9. Suhail was staying in the hostel. Sources said police here have recovered two handwritten notes from his hostel room and are examining them for possible leads, the sources added.
