The Odisha attracks 56 thousand crore investment in a day. Investors Meet organized as part of Make in India Week here today has generated very good interest in the investor community as assurance for Rs 56,400 cr of investment was received on the inaugural day of the meet.

The meet which was inaugurated here by the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was attended by companies of national and international repute, including Fortune 500 companies.

The proposed investments includes an Aluminium refinery by L&T, expansion by NALCO, food processing and hospitality by ITC, expansion of the power plant by GMR and petrochemical downstream projects by IOCL, said a release from the office of the Chief Minister. “In addition, the state has received firm commitments from leading national and international players in Electronics Manufacturing, Food Processing and renewable energy”, said the release adding that Adani Group has also committed expansion of Dhamra port to 100 million tons including establishment of a container terminal.

The event witnessed two key launches on integrated business services on eBiz portal, the online G2B portal of Government of India and Central Inspection Framework for industries online portal, the first of its kind in India. “These two initiatives of the government will significantly ease the doing business in the state”, said Patnaik who also launched Odisha Industrial Development Plan: Vision 2025. This provides the roadmap for industrial development with the aim of generating 1.0 million jobs and attract an investment of INR 2.25 lakh crore, explained Mr.Patnaik.

The Chief Minister while dedicating the 4.5 lakh sq.ft. startup hub at Bhubaneswar said that this facility would be mentored by TiE Silicon Valley. “Help the state in drafting its start up policy to unleash the entrepreneurial talents of the local youth”, Mr.Patnaik urged homegrown start up entrepreneur Ritesh Aggarwal, the CEO of OYO Rooms who also attended the meet.

The inaugural function was attended by the Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik along with the senior officials with the participation of industry stalwarts such as Kumar Mangalam Birla, Y.C. Deveshwar, Shashi Ruia, etc. Amitabh Kant, Secretary,NITI Aayog and Bibek Debroy, Member, Niti Aayog graced the ocaasion as Guests of Honour.

Besides, Debi Prasad Mishra, Minister Industries and senior officials led by Chief Secretary, Aditya Prasad Padhi also attended the Meet.
