Odisha CM orders RDC inquiry to attack on Central Minister


Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday ordered RDC level inquary to theattack on Union Minister Santosh Gangwar’s vehicle during his recent visit to Bargarh to attend BJP’s Vikash Utsav.


The Chief Minister ordered Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Northern Range to hold and inquiry and submit the report within 60 days, sources said.

Interestingly, the Chief Minister’s announcement for an administrative inquiry has come a day before the BJP has planned to hold demonstrations across the state in all 314 blocks on June 29.

It may be mentioned here that Union Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar and Union Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti’s convoy was pelted with stones on June 24 by scores of BJD supporters, including leaders, when they were on their way to Bargarh to attend BJP’s Vikas Utsav, to observe the completion of two years of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the Centre.

Notably, a day after the incident Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had spoken to the Chief Minister and advised him to take appropriate action and prevent any such untoward incident in future.

On the same day, an 11-member team led by senior BJP leader Pratap Sarangi met Governor S C Jamir and presented a memorandum seeking his intervention in the matter.

Senior saffron party leaders Suresh Pujari and Bijoy Mohapatra had demanded a CBI probe into the matter.

Pujari had alleged to the extent that it was a conspiracy and Third Floor (Chief Minister’s Office) was directly involved in the incident adding that the Collector, SP, MLA had executed the plan.
