Sambalpur: Due to staffs shortage, The Maternity and Child Health Centre (MCH) inaugurated at the district headquarters hospital on February 27 is yet to be operational. Inadequate funds to appoint attendants, security guards and cleaning staff is the major factor for this. “The existing doctors and nurses of the hospital can manage the healthcare service at MCH, but it is not possible to make the unit functional without appointing cleaning staff, attendants and security guards,” said chief district medical officer (CDMO) Kodanda Rao.
“It is estimated that around Rs 2.5 lakh is required every month to pay salaries of those contractual staffs. We do not have the fund for it and trying to arrange it,” added Rao.
